Female Wave of Change welcomes Helen Olayinka Ogunsuyi as Ambassador Nigerian

Female Wave of Change is very excited to welcome Helen Olayinka Ogunsuyi as our Ambassador in Nigeria. In this huge country with many challenges, Helen will work closely together with her sister Ambassador Asmau Benzies Leo. We met Helen as one of the participants in the first group of our Women Leading in Change program.


“My name is Helen Olayinka Ogunsuyi (nee Olofingboyegun), born 5 decades ago to the Family of Chief and Mrs. Oluwafemi Olofingboyegun both from Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Government Areas of Ondo State, Southwestern, Nigeria. I obtained my education in Nigeria up to Ph. D level and proceeded to the University of Louisville, Kentucky in the United States of America for my postdoctoral studies.

Professor in the Department of Chemistry

I started my lecturing career as a Graduate Assistant with the Federal University of Technology, Akure Nigeria in 1996 and rose through ranks to attain my present status of a Professor in the Department of Chemistry of the University. My area of expertise focuses on Biomass Conversion and Biofuel Technology.

I am a member and executive members of diverse Professional bodies, Movement, Council and Organizations both within and outside Nigeria. As an astute academician, I had served in several capacities within and outside my locality where l distinguished myself as a cynosure, dependable mentor, amiable leader, altruistic benefactor and a dynamic facilitator. In recognition of my selflessness and dynamism, I have been recognized, commended and honoured with several distinguished awards of excellence by different awarding bodies.

Centre for Gender Issues in Science and Technology

Being an experienced administrator, I had served both as an Associate and Acting Directors of the Centre for Gender Issues in Science and Technology of my University. Currently, I’m a member of the University Senate. I had competently Chaired many committees, actively involved in several Panels and Boards within and outside the University community.


As an erudite Scholar, I have authored and co-authored over 30 scientific papers published both at local and international referred journals. I have supervised several undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. As a motivational speaker, I have engaged in several public lectures and role modeling events.

I am a God fearing and devout Christian. In acknowledgement of my virtuousness and unreserved zeal towards promotion of my faith, I was recently appointed as the President of the lay faithful of my Diocese by the Lord Bishop of the Diocese, Most. Rev. (Dr.) Jude Arogundade, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, Nigeria

I am a dependable mother, wife, sister, lecturer and mentor to a lot of people that had gone through my tutelage. I am happily married and blessed with God-fearing Children.”
